International women's day

Every year on 8th March, International Women's Day is celebrated in many countries. This day, is dedicated to celebrating victories and achievements in women's rights and to reaffirming the importance of the struggle for women's rights and gender equality.

International Women's Day, established in 1977 by the United Nations (UN), has its origins in women's protests in the early 20th century in Europe, Russia and the United States, demanding better working conditions, the right to vote and equality between men and women.

Each year, the United Nations defines a different theme, for the year 2023, the chosen theme is:

"DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality".
